Description
Partition sound ratings can match the promise of
sound tests—but only when field-construction gaps are properly
sealed. Although often overlooked, complete sealing of spaces at perimeters of
partitions is critically important
to attain these ratings. Fortunately, this is easy and economical to do. With
SHEETROCK® brand acoustical sealant,
you can get all the test-verified STC/MTC your partition assembly can deliver.
It sound-seals partitions at gaps
and electrical box cutouts which are devastating to sound ratings. Use it to
seal all abutting dissimilar materials
on both sides of partitions. SHEETROCK acoustical sealant is also an integral
part of acoustical high-performance
partition designs developed by USG for attenuation of low-frequency sound from
machinery and music.
This highly elastic water-based sealant dries to a tough film but remains
flexible to form a long-lasting, resilient
acoustical seal. Non-staining—can be painted if required.
Versatile
Has many interior acoustical uses. Easily applied on vertical and horizontal
surfaces without sagging,
even overhead.
Sound-tested Tested at Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories in accordance
with ASTM E90. An integral component
in maintaining STC/MTC partition ratings.
Surface burning characteristics Rates 0/0 flame-spread/smoke-developed
Surface Burning Characteristics, with
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. label service. Tested in accordance with ASTM
E84.
For use in fire-rated partitions for sound control Acceptable for use at the
perimeter of any wall assemblies rated
1-3 hour with no adverse effect on assembly fire performance. Classified for use
in UL Design Nos. U419, U423,
U424, U441, U451, U452, U453, U454, U455, and U466. Also acceptable for use in
full-load-bearing steel-stud
partition (WHI-9-28-78).
Permanently flexible Dries tough but stays resilient to “give” with
movement.
High adhesion Bonds tenaciously to both porous and nonporous materials.
Attractive appearance Pintable and non-staining.
Skinning and low-shrinking Skins over, stays free of dirt; ages without
hardening or cracking.
