Marine Coast Guard Approved Fiberglass/Lead Soundproofing

 This composite is made of materials meeting Coast Guard materials standards 164.109/46/0 and 164.012/73/0 as may be required in larger Coast Guard inspected vessels (ships). It is a Lead/Fiberglass sandwich with reinforced vapor barrier facing, using rigid fiberglass hullboard. The _x_ designation gives the composite thickness, in inches, and the weight of the lead foil, in lb/ft², respectively. Thus C.G.F.G., 2 x 1, is a 2 inch thick composite with a 1 !b/ft² lead foil. The composite thickness and lead weight can be tailored to the specific acoustic requirements of each application. Installation is by mechanical supports, such as welded insulation mounting pins or by battens. Perforated aluminum sheets may be installed for protection in high traffic and abuse locations. The standard sheet size is 2' x 3'. The fiberglass has a density of 3 lb/ft³.
