Roxul stone wool insulation SAFE® (Rockwool) is a light-weight, semi-rigid batt that provides fire resistance and sound
control.
Applications:
This product is designed for
commercial, industrial, and residential buildings as a fire stopping
insulation. Ideal for filling:
- Perimeter gaps
between concrete floor slabs and exterior wall
systems
- Around conduit pipe and duct openings
through walls and floor slabs
- Between fire walls and ceiling slabs
SAFE® is used
in conjunction with a
fire sealant to prevent passage of fire and smoke.
Properties:

Roxul stone wool insulation with melting point of
approx. 1177°C (2150°F)
- Does not promote smoke or flame
spread when exposed to flame
- Minimal shrinkage to maintain
critical line of defense against fire
- Low thermal conductivity
- Water and moisture resistant;
does not absorb moisture to maintain insulating value
- Does not rot,
promote mildew, fungi, or bacteria, or sustain vermin

Sound-Absorbent
| The unique non-directional structure of Roxul Insulation
stone wool content is denser than traditional insulations. This
effectively reduces airflow and essentially, sound transmissions. Higher
air flow resistivity means better sound attenuation. Excellent overall
sound control is further achieved with several Roxul products as the
density of the stone wool content is increased – such as in our rigid
and semi-rigid board products. |
Roxul Sound Absorption
The non-directional fiber orientation of the stone wool helps the absorption
of acoustic waves and can reduce the intensity and propagation of noise.
Fire Resistant
Stone wool can withstand temperatures up to 2150º F (1177º C). Consequently
it does not contribute either to the development and spread of fire or
the release of toxic gases.
Water Repellent
Roxul Stone wool is water repellent yet vapor permeable. This means that the
insulation cannot absorb water so the R-value is not affected.
Additionally it is completely resistant to rot, mildew, mold and bacterial
growth, contributing to a safer indoor environment.
Dimensional stability
Stone wool retains its characteristics unaltered over time.
It undergoes only minimal changes in size or performance to the changing
conditions of temperature and humidity.
